I'm back

Okay, so four months is a long time. I've been such a bad blogger, but there's just been a lot going on.
I'm currently on my winter break from Uni, so I finally have had some time to breathe. This fall semester has flown by partly because I've just been so darn busy. 15 credits and two jobs at the Uni has left me very little time for myself and the fun things. School pretty much consumes 70% of my time, the remaining 30% belongs to my husband, the gym, and my yoga practice (the last two have been nonexistent for the past two weeks though).
But good news is that I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel because this spring semester is my last and then I will be graduating. It's such an exhilarating feeling to know that I'll be receiving my Bachelors degree. It's been a long road.
2014 will be such an amazing year - I can just feel it! Graduation, grad school, new and realistic fitness goals, and so many more endeavors. I'll make a separate post on my new year's resolutions. My husband and I even made some resolutions to do together!
I forgot how much I love to write and I think blogging just gives me the perfect outlet. It allows me to write about the things that I love. I also promise to take more pictures and actually post them.

a small update on my squat and yoga challenge.
so far, so good.
I haven't missed a day, which is surprising because I'm never any good at these types of things.
today is 75 squats and I'll probably practice yoga for a short while.
yay for fitness!

Well, hello. It's been a lonnnng minute since I last blogged. So so much has happened since I last blogged - I actually can't think of what I last wrote about...Ah hah! It was about a date night hubby and I had after finals week. Wow, excuse my lack of commitment.
Things have been hectic. For starters, I've been super busy with summer school and work. I found myself two jobs on campus, so between that and hitting the books, I virtually have zero time to jump on the computer and blog. I've also been deepening my yoga practice, so I spend my nights on my mat, which I think is a healthier way to spend my free time.
Hubby is good. He's busy with soccer. That's year round, so it never truly ends. We cherish all the free time we can get together, which is usually at night when we're winding down for bed.
But anyways, I really needed to hop back on this thang to stalk my favorite bloggers. More specifically: fashion bloggers. Yeah...I've been going through some sort of a wardrobe crisis. My style has become so casual, like jeans and t-shirt EVERY DAY casual. Anyways, it's become too much and I know I can do better, so I've been perusing my fav fashion blogs to get some ideas.
Other updates...OH! I'm doing that 30-day squat and yoga challenge. I'm thinking about updating as I go along. Maybe once or twice a week? We shall see! Hopefully my next post will have pictures!

finally back...

Well, I'm finally back. It's been a week since I finished my finals. I think I needed that recuperation time. However, all the hard work paid off because I got good grades. Also, a lot has happened since my last final: family from the mainland came in, my little sister graduated from high school, lots of adventures. Don't worry, posts will come for all of it! I took a ton of pictures, so I'm really excited to share.
I wanted to share some flicks I took from date night, two Fridays ago. Hubby knew I was so stressed with all that was going on with school, so he planned a dinner and a movie for the both of us. We went to Shokudo Japanese Restaurant. I was so thrilled because we both just needed some time to relax. So after my last final, I picked up hubby and we went out. We both love this restaurant so much because the food is delicious!
After dinner, we went to see Iron Man 3. We both liked it! We haven't gone to the movies in SO long, so it was pretty nice to sit in a theatre and enjoy. Also, we scored military pricing, so we didn't have to pay an arm and a leg for tickets.

A frustrating Saturday night

There are times, rare times, where I feel the absolute need to blog all of my current frustrations.
First. My paper. My literary theory & criticism paper, which is supplemented with a presentation.
These two things are currently driving me up the wall. Yes, Up. A. Wall.
I really wish there was a way my paper would write itself and my presentation would just...get itself done.
Second. Alright, so I live in Hawaii. Right now, it's really humid and just all around uncomfortable.
This doesn't help the first frustration.
Third. I miss my hubby. He went to a bbq, which I declined because of the first frustration and also, I'd have to socialize, which given my current state of being, I'd probably end up in a corner crying.
I feel like blogging all of my frustrations will serve as some cathartic experience and after I post it, I will be this new person that will be able to be free of all frustration.
Is it just me or do other bloggers feel this way? Or, are we all crazy?

Last week, I was feeling so overwhelmed.
I was trapped in this terrible funk of stress and could not surface from it.
It was just one thing after another that caused this feeling of being overwhelmed.
I mean, it's normal to feel overwhelmed throughout your life, right?
There's nothing special about harboring these feelings,
Especially when you've got about one million things to get done.
For me, a lot of it comes from school.
Papers, presentations, exams, etc.
It's a lot to take in.
The normal life of a college student, ya feel me?!
But, being a married college student comes with challenges.
It's all about managing your relationship with your college career.
With all these things coming at you all at once, it's really hard to prioritize.
Anyway, as I was saying...
It's really hard to manage all of the things Chris and I have to, in order to keep our lives afloat.
Now, throw college crap in to the mix
And you've got yourself a potentially catastrophic event brewing.
I talked to Chris about it.
His usual advice:
Just get it done. I know you can do it.
Well, only if it were that easy...
So, the other day, while walking to class,
I passed the stinkiest tree on campus,
which happens to be the prettiest one as well.
Go figure.
Anyway, I stopped to snap a quick picture.
And I ended up standing under it
And allowed the sun to touch my cheek for a good minute.
This.
This is what I needed to make me see how unhappy I was with life at the moment.
So I needed to make a change.
Right then and there.
I needed to get myself out of the pit that I buried myself in.
I took control of my life.
That's right.
I took control.
I stopped thinking about the daunting tasks that needed to be done,
And just got them done.
Imagine that.
Instant satisfaction and the feelings of being overwhelmed were gone.
All thanks to a tree.

Just a litte Friday night shenanigans

Last Friday night was pretty fun, considering Chris & I don't get out much. We tend to avoid crowds or anything that screams busy. So baseball games and restaurants on a Friday night is not usually our cup of tea. BUT we made an exception and accompanied my sister, cousin, and uncle to the baseball game for my University. It was Chris's and my first time at a baseball game (I know, we are so deprived). And let me just say that I enjoyed it! Unfortunately, we lost, but I shared a giant hot dog (called a Warrior Dog) and a large coca with hubby. So good!
Anyway, we only stayed for half of the game because we had made plans to go to dinner with my best friend, Dayna, and her friend, Mike. We ate Real a Gastropub. Let me just say holy moly beer. If you are ever visiting Oahu and want the option of choosing from 100+ beers, go there. You won't regret it. I am not typically a beer drinker, so the waiter offered me something smooth and light. I forget the name, but it wasn't too bad. The food is appetizer style, so we shared everything. There was a good crowd there, and no shenanigans. Chris & I hate the bad shenanigans, which is why we choose to avoid the night scene.
